The experts of the Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket division agree: the future belongs to chain drives. They expect that the number of chain-driven engines in new vehicles will increase significantly by 2030. With more than 100 years of experience in chain drives, the company is not only one of the largest original equipment manufacturers but also supplies the independent aftermarket with a comprehensive range of repair solutions for chain-driven timing drives. Under the INA brand, the aftermarket specialists are now offering a timing chain KIT for vehicles of the VW Group (VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda) with 1.2l TSI engines.

The chain drive is a complex system. For smooth engine operation, it is essential that all parts and components in the timing drive are perfectly matched and interlock synchronously. Therefore, in case of repair, the complete system should always be replaced. This way, consequential damage can be avoided even after replacement and the optimum interaction of the individual components in the timing drive can be guaranteed.

“With the INA Timing Chain KIT, we are the first supplier on the market to offer a repair solution that also includes the crankshaft sprocket. For this purpose, we have developed a special tool that helps to replace the crankshaft sprocket easily and professionally,” explains Christian Kos, Head of Engine Systems at Schaeffler in the Automotive Aftermarket. “With more than 25 components, the INA Timing Chain KIT contains exactly those parts that are required for a comprehensive and sustainable repair of timing drives. All components of the INA Timing Chain KIT for 1.2l TSI engines are precisely matched together. In addition to timing chain, camshaft sprocket, chain tensioner, slide and guide rail, these include all the necessary components for installation. The scope of supply also includes the crankshaft sprocket and the chain additive "Chain Protect" developed together with Liqui Moly for optimum lubrication. This additive reduces running-in wear after chain drive replacement by up to 20 percent, thus extending the service life of the chain drive.
