SKF is to showcase its broad portfolio of sealing and bearing products for the marine industry at Nor-Shipping. In Hall E, booth E03-07, visitors will find out how their numerous innovations and global network of experts can be used to deliver costs savings and efficiency gains.
At Nor-Shipping, SKF will showcase its SKF Simplex BlueRun water-lubricated sterntube system. Compliant with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Vessel General Permit (VGP) 13 regulations, this environmentally friendly solution is ideal for use in vessels that primarily operate in coastal or specially protected areas.

Simplex BlueRun comprises polymer bearing bushes, carrier bushes, a tail shaft monitoring system and a water quality system. Technical Director Shaft Components at SKF, Michael Zollenkopf, comments: "The bearing bush material has been tested under real conditions for more than 11,000 hours. Thus, customers will get a reliable solution for all kinds of vessels."

The bearing bushes are available in split and non-split versions; both options can be used for open and closed water-lubricated sterntube systems.

SKF will also highlight its new Simplex Double Pipe Airspace seal at the show. The new seal enables the conversion of conventional 3-ring or 4-ring aft seals to the latest “pollution-free” variant through a simple, quick and cost-effective process. Use of the Simplex Double Pipe Airspace eliminates the need for expensive bio oils while ensuring compliance with the VGP 13 regulations.

Furthermore, SKF experts will be on hand to discuss SKF's hybrid bearings, SimPro Quick bearing simulation software tool and Marine Condition Monitoring RouteKit.

SKF's Marine Director of Sales, Thomas Kaiser, says: "Our products help customers to simplify their operations. They solve typical problems such as waste oil handling, ensuring compliance with changing environmental regulations, keeping everyone safe on board of vessels, and the efficient planning and execution of maintenance work."
