Schaeffler in the comeback of Brands Hatch in the DTM

Next weekend (11th to 12th of August), the DTM will start the second half of the season in Brands Hatch. Schaeffler driver Mike Rockenfeller travels to England with good memories.

With the sixth of ten events, the DTM 2018 resumes operations after a four-week summer break. The number 11 and 12 race hosts the Brands Hatch Circuit. The traditional course in the English county of Kent was already in the DTM seasons 2006 to 2013 part of the calendar. Now the track is making its comeback.

For the first time, the DTM drives on the complete, 3.908-kilometer Grand Prix layout, so far always the 1.973-kilometer "Indy variant" was used. As the last DTM Brands Hatch winner to date, Schaeffler driver Mike Rockenfeller will be listed in the statistics books. In 2013 - already in the Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM on the road - he secured pole position and in the subsequent race crossed the finish line confidently with a lead of more than seven seconds. At the end of the season, Rocky crowned champion. In 2018, the 34-year-old Schaeffler brand ambassador has made a podium finish so far.

Schaeffler is represented in the United Kingdom by Schaeffler (UK) Ltd. At five locations, the 1,100 employees produce various components for the international market: from bearings and couplings to mechanical bucket tappets. The products are also used locally, such as the Ferris wheel "London Eye", in the retractable roof of the center court in Wimbledon and in the arch above the Wembley Stadium.

Long DTM tradition

In the early years of the DTM, Schaeffler and its product brands supported drivers and teams with motorsport and technical know-how. Since 2011, the technology concern has been named after the Schaeffler-Audi and has already celebrated great success with two titles, among others. The DTM traditionally uses vehicles with internal combustion engines. With its innovative technologies and products for the automotive industry, Schaeffler also makes an important contribution to making combustors efficient and fit for tomorrow's mobility.
