At EICMA 2017, SKF will unveil its latest sealing solution innovations to boost performance for two wheeler (TW) suspension systems and improve overall control and comfort for riders.

The company will share a stand at EICMA with its official aftermarket distribution partner InnTeck, an international distributor of high tech components and racing accessories for motorcycles and bikes.

In addition to its already existing and well-established TW seals range, SKF will this year present a new offer of piston seals and fork rod cartridge seals. Combining low-friction nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) compounds and optimized seal design, these seals deliver outstanding sealing performance for two-wheeler forks.

Both feature dynamic seal lips to reduce friction, as well as integrated metal inserts and back-up ring to optimize sealing contact with the shaft and the housing. When used together, these seals enable better absorption of impacts from small obstacles, particularly during braking - ultimately improving rider confidence and higher performance.

SKF piston seals and fork rod cartridge seals were unveiled in 2015 to upgrade the Showa SFF-Air TAC forks. Packaged and distributed by InnTeck, the latest tailored offering of these seals is now available as a new kit designed for the WP AER 48 air forks.

SKF will showcase its full range of TW seals products at EICMA. The assortment is extended on a yearly basis to fit the most recent motorcycle novelties in the market place.

Fork seal kit - achieves superior sealing performance
Increasing sealing performance while reducing static friction, the SKF seal kit is suitable for all high-end motorcycle forks. It is composed of an oil seal and a wiper seal designed to withstand contaminated operating conditions and provide low friction, limited air suction and allow consistent hydraulic performance at factory setting levels.

Fork mud scraper kit - reduces contamination in the harshest conditions
An innovative, ready-to-use solution for off-road two wheelers, SKF’s fork mud scraper kit is designed to be positioned above the fork without the need to dismantle the wheel. It prevents contamination from mud and the resulting abrasion, thus ensuring the rider’s safety by improving performance of the fork and the operating conditions of the seal.

Seal head unit 2.0 and service kit - enhances rider comfort and performance
Designed to enhance the performance of shock absorbers on off-road vehicles, the seal head unit 2.0 is a fully integrated, one-part, solution for robust sealing over a wide temperature range (-40 to +140 °C). The unit combines multiple pre-assembled components into a single solution, which ensures quick mounting time and simplified air bleeding.

Wheel seal kit - protects against high contamination and reduces friction SKF’s wheel seal kit ensures increased service intervals and longer bearing life to deliver the ultimate riding experience. Suitable for most motorcycle stock wheel hubs, especially off-road, the wheel seal kit increases sealing efficiency by reducing friction. The patented seal design also features an integrated plastic shield that ensures the seal is resistant to high pressure wash.

Floating piston - improves riding feeling
An integrated solution for the pressure reservoir of TW rear shocks, SKF’s floating piston unit replaces multi-component stock designs and integrates a membrane feature. An advanced external sealing lip design controls oil and gas transfer and reduces friction, virtually eliminating stick and slip effects. The reduced friction and rubber membrane design also improve rider control and comfort.
