NSK Ltd. (NSK; Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President and CEO: Toshihiro Uchiyama) will exhibit its Asset Improvement Program (AIP) at ABTCP 2017, to be held at Unique Hotel (São Paulo, Brazil) from Monday, October 23 to Wednesday, October 25, 2017.
Summary
Organized by the Brazilian Technical Association of Pulp and Paper (ABTCP), the 50th Pulp and Paper International Congress aims to further technical development of professionals in the forestry sector and to improve the competitiveness of the companies operating in this segment.
NSK is one of the major sponsors of the event and will be giving a presentation on its highly successful Asset Improvement Program (AIP) that contributes to reducing costs for customers.
Asset Improvement Program
Since its implementation in 2012, AIP has already helped companies save an estimated $35.9 million BRL (about $11.5 million USD). AIP is a work methodology developed by NSK engineers that aims to optimize the use of bearings in machines and equipment. This optimization allows operation at maximum capacity with less wear, increases productivity, and considerably reduces operation and maintenance costs.
Based on four pillars: Mapping, Selection, Training, and Inspection, AIP is a tailor made solution from NSK. Through the program it is possible, for example, to demonstrate how much can be saved by using the proper bearing for each piece of equipment, and even to identify incorrect use or assembly of a bearing, which can reduce the life of a machine or even bring the whole factory to a halt.
