Schaeffler Received the 2017 DMG MORI Partner Award as the Overall Winner

DMG MORI, a leading manufacturer of machine tools worldwide, presented Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG with the DMG MORI Partner Award 2017 as the overall winner at the EMO 2017 in Hanover. According to Christian Thönes, Chairman of the Executive Board of DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, Schaeffler was chosen due to its outstanding innovative strength and reliability as a strong partner during cooperation projects in the field of future technologies.
Dr. Stefan Spindler, CEO Industrial of Schaeffler AG, and Mathis Bätz, Global Key Account Management Industrial at Schaeffler, accepted the award from Christian Thönes during the DMG MORI Partner Summit at the EMO 2017 in Hanover. In his speech, the Chairman of the Executive Board of DMG MORI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT highlighted the significance of Schaeffler’s innovative strength for the increased efficiency and optimized processes of DMG MORI’s machines. As an example in the field of future technologies, he named the joint development of additive manufacturing methods for rolling bearing components in small batch sizes using laser cladding. Schaeffler has also provided proactive support to DMG MORI for its “first quality” strategy for many years.
At the award ceremony, Christian Thönes explained: “Our companies can look back on a long-standing, comprehensive and very diverse partnership, and we have intensified our cooperation even more over the last two years. This can be considered as a benchmark for other partnerships.” Dr. Spindler added: “We have initiated 25 new projects as partners over the last two years.”
Strong partnerships as a response to the globalized market
DMG MORI stands for tradition, precision, and the combination of 69 years of expertise from Mori Seiki and 147 years of expertise from GILDEMEISTER in the engineering sector. In order to face the challenges of the global machine tool market, the company has intensified its partnerships with other companies. In November 2016, DMG MORI and Schaeffler signed a cooperation agreement in Japan that has the objective of jointly pursuing development work in the field of additive manufacturing of rolling bearings. Mathis Bätz said: “Schaeffler and DMG MORI have a mutual customer-supplier relationship. Such a partnership provides significant benefits for both companies, for example, in terms of optimizing machine tool operation, developing machine tool components, and using new manufacturing methods.”
