Top Safety Accreditation for SKF Services Business
SKF services and solutions business unit has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
SKF services and solutions is a business unit within SKF Industrial Sales UK offering a wide range of contractual engineering services, from on-the-spot and one-off traditional service models, to subscription and performance-based contracts. The business unit is particularly flexible in its operations, solving client problems ranging from small technical issues to plant- and factory-wide overall equipment efficiency improvement.
SKF globally has around 45,000 employees at some 146 manufacturing, distribution, research, and services sites spread across 130 countries. The Group as a whole is committed to achieving world-class environmental, health and safety standards (EHS), and works tirelessly to ensure that its contractors and associates adopt the principles of this policy throughout their own operations. SKF's Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation is further evidence of the Company's ongoing commitment to health and safety, but particularly with regard to its work as a contractor in its own right.
Daniel Letton, EHS Co-ordinator for SKF Industrial Sales UK comments: “While we expect our own employees to strive towards meeting our corporate EHS goals, this also extends to those who work alongside us - our contractors and their sub-contractors - and we demand the highest standards of health and safety from these companies and individuals. The Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation recognises our own efforts as a contractor to maintain the highest levels of health and safety, and we are proud to have achieved it.”
Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.
Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that SKF services and solutions has done. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
