DTM home race for Schaeffler at the Norisring
This coming weekend (1 to 2 July) the great DTM season highlight is on the agenda with the event at the Norisring. The city-circuit built in Nuremberg is only 30 kilometers away from the company’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach.

Regularly more than 100,000 spectators over the whole weekend, a circuit directly on the ‘Dutzendteich’ lake and a distinctly urban character – the event at the Norisring isn’t known as the ‘Monaco of the DTM’ for nothing. For Schaeffler, it is also a true home race. The headquarters of the technology group in Herzogenaurach and the race track are just 30 minutes away from each other.

With a length of 2.3 kilometers, the Norisring is not only the shortest race track on the 2017 DTM calendar, but also the only city-circuit. Many bumps on the asphalt and solid track limits can be a real challenge for the drivers. Numerous overtaking maneuvers ensure spectacular motorsport every year. Mike Rockenfeller will be looking to consolidate his good form in Nuremberg. The 2013 DTM champion has scored points in each of the six races so far this season and currently occupies sixth in the drivers’ standings.

Schaeffler has been involved in the DTM since the 1980s, and since 2011 the company has been the name-giver of a complete race car from Audi Sport Team Phoenix. Traditionally, vehicles with classic combustion engines are used in the most popular international touring car racing series. Schaeffler is also making an important contribution in this area with innovative technologies and products for the automotive industry, making the burners fit and efficient for the mobility for tomorrow.
