Home race for ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport
The seventh stop on the Formula E world tour represents a great highlight for Schaeffler: in the capital city of Berlin, the German technology group has its home race on June 10/11. For the first time this season, two races will be held.
Six Formula E races have now been completed in 2016/2017 and six more remain. The second half of the season begins with a double hit in Berlin. At the former Tempelhof airport, which the electro racing series already visited in its debut 2014/2015 season, points will be awarded in two separate races.
For the German ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport team, after the events in Asia, Africa, South and North America and Europe, it will be a special moment to drive in front of the home fans. Especially for the local hero Daniel Abt. The driver from Kempten and his Brazilian teammate Lucas di Grassi will be aiming to strengthen their good positions in the team and driver championships on the 2.277-kilometer circuit.
For the worldwide-producing automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler, Germany is the most important location. From its headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Schaeffler manages 20 factories within the national border out of its total of 75 worldwide. The closest to Berlin is the plant of the INA product brand in Luckenwalde, which is located about an hour’s drive away.
Free practice, qualifying and race within just a few hours – Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt are doing this tight schedule twice in Berlin. It all begins at 8:00 a.m. both on Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11, whilst the races both start at 4:00 p.m. DMAX broadcasts in Germany live, and the program from Berlin begins at 3:45 p.m. on each occasion. Schaeffler also presents the Formula E magazine, which can be watched at 9.35 p.m. on June 13.
